Many countries with universities offer nanotechnology degrees, and still others develop new programs. Because nanotechnology is so new, universities around the world are just beginning to offer programs for undergraduates and graduate students. Some programs are offered in conjunction with an engineering degree, or or an optional concentration within an engineering or science degree. Some fields that offer joint programs may include chemistry, physics, bioengineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, biochemistry, genome sciences, physiology and biophysics, and microbiology.
Some universities offer Ph.D. courses in Nanotechnology – where students have an opportunity to obtain a “dual degree” — a Ph.D. in both their home department discipline and nanotechnology. This is an exciting, espacially for students interested in nanoscale phenomena.
